On Monday (25th May) it was confirmed that the lockdown will continue to ease in June with all non-essential retail opening on the 15th June. The official advice which was announced by the Transport Secretary Grant Shapps was to avoid public transport where possible in order to adhere to social distancing rules. This guideline provided a real obstacle for those retail workers who travel by public transport to work and also to the retail industry in general who are eager to open up their doors but also want to protect their staff. To help support the retail industry Q-Park devised a tailormade solution to assist retail staff in Liverpool and further afield.
Q-Park created a £5 Retail Staff Card so employees of the shopping and leisure complex are able to travel by car for a similar cost to public transport. In addition the user can also receive 10% cashback via the Q-Park Rewards app just by registering their bank card. With safety in mind, the parker is also encouraged to use their innovative Tap & Go Contactless payment system at the entry and exit barriers to ensure there is no need to queue at a pay machine and that they can enter and exit the car park in the most socially distant way possible.
John Denton, Head of Sales and Marketing and Q-Park commented ‘We are delighted to be able to assist our key stakeholders at Liverpool ONE in being able to relaunch their retail operation and keep everybody safe. We are speaking with a number of different partners across the UK and Ireland to replicate this great initiative.’
Retail workers at Liverpool ONE can simply apply for a Retail Staff Parking Card via the ONE View app.
